Mackinac Island Hotels - Charlotte North Carolina's Best Resort

But was pleasantly surprised to find my accommodations available, i had actually arrived about an hour early and had expected to wait in the resort bar. Upon arriving at the Ballantyne I was greeted by name and personally escorted to my suite. Yet it seemed we had travelled light years away from the hustle of a major transportation center, it took a short twenty-minute drive to get from the airport to the front desk. North Carolina, when traveling for business recently I was given the opportunity to stay at the Ballantyne Golf Resort just outside of Charlotte.

I am told that several suites include a private balcony overlooking the course or other resort amenities. The view overlooked the golf course. A safe that will hold a laptop and standard desk working area, my room also included two Ballantyne robes. It was a great bonus for this to be included in the price. Having stayed at many hotels I grow weary of being "nickel and dimed" with extra expenses to rent a DVD player or VCR. As well as a 37" HDTV and DCD player, my suite came equipped with a Bose MP3 player and radio.

The outdoor pool also is home to a casual mixer event each Thursday evening during the summer. The atmosphere was perfect for causal tasks such as replying to emails, and while I sometimes had a small problem connecting to the wireless internet, i worked at the pool for several days during my stay. Recently the Ballantyne opened their outdoor pool area which includes dining and drink services as well as plenty of room to lounge comfortably.

In the summer of 2009 the course closed for two months to install higher quality greens for improved and consistent play year-round. I did notice that Golf Digest magazine gave the course 4.5 out of five stars and Conde Nast Traveler lists it as one of the top 100 golf courses in the world, and while locals may be a bit biased. The course is the Charlotte area's best place to play, and hotel staff, according to them. Several guests I met during my stay had traveled to the Ballantyne simply to play golf on the 18-hole resort course.

Spa and other amenities are even nicer if you don't have to be thinking about work part of the time, i'm sure the golf course. I plan on making another venture to the Ballantyne for relaxation, since my wife was unable to join me on this trip. And major entertainment venues are a short drive away, the on-site dining options were adequate. Hotel was an enjoyable experience; overall my stay at the Ballantyne Resort &.
