But was pleasantly surprised to find my accommodations available, i had actually arrived about an hour early and had expected to wait in the resort bar. Recently the Ballantyne opened their outdoor pool area which includes dining and drink services as well as plenty of room to lounge comfortably.

In the summer of 2009 the course closed for two months to install higher quality greens for improved and consistent play year-round. I did notice that Golf Digest magazine gave the course 4.5 out of five stars and Conde Nast Traveler lists it as one of the top 100 golf courses in the world, and while locals may be a bit biased. The course is the Charlotte area's best place to play, and hotel staff, according to them. Several guests I met during my stay had traveled to the Ballantyne simply to play golf on the 18-hole resort course.

Spa and other amenities are even nicer if you don't have to be thinking about work part of the time, i'm sure the golf course.
